Facts on the war written by a veteran and Senator:

There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq in January. In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January. That's just one American city, about as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq .

When some claim that President Bush shouldn't have started this war, tell them the following: FDR (DEMOCRAT) led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us; Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost ... an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman (DEMOCRAT) finished that war and started one in Korea . North Korea never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost ... an average of 18,334 per year.

John F. Kennedy (DEMOCRAT) started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us.

Johnson (DEMOCRAT) turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost ... an average of 5,800 per year.

Clinton (DEMOCRAT) went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent. Bosnia never attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.
This one is a fact that makes me mad as hell.

In the years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran, and, North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people. And the Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking.

It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno (DEMOCRAT) to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation.

We've been looking for evidence for chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton (DEMOCRAT) to find the Rose law firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.
It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida !!!
Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB! The Military morale is high!
The biased media hopes we are too ignorant to realize the facts.

Some people still don't understand why military personnel do what they do for a living. This exchange between Senators John Glenn and Senator Howard Metzenbaum is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive impromptu speech, but it's also a good example of one man's explanation of why men and women in the armed services do what they do for a living.

This IS a typical, though sad, example of what some who have never served think of the military.

Senator Metzenbaum (speaking to Senator Glenn):
'How can you run for Senate when you've never held a real job?'

Senator Glenn (D-Ohio): 'I served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps. I served through two wars. I flew 149 missions. My plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire on 12 different occasions. I was in the space program. It wasn't my checkbook, Howard; it was my life on the line. < /SPAN> It was not a nine-to-five job, where I took time off to take the daily cash receipts to the bank. I ask you to go with me, as I went the other day... to a veteran's hospital and look those men ... with their mangled bodies ... in the eye, and tell THEM they didn't hold a job!

You go with me to the Space Program at NASA and go, as I have gone, to the widows and orphans of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee ... and you look those kids in the eye and tell them that their DAD'S didn't hold a job.

You go with me on Memorial Day and you stand in Arlington National Cemetery , where I have more friends buried than I'd like to remember, and you watch those waving flags. You stand there, and you think about this nation, and you have the gall to tell ME that those people didn't have a job?
What about Metzenbaum? For those who don't remember During W.W.II, Howard Metzenbaum was an attorney representing the Communist Party in the USA .

Now he's a Senator!

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English thank a Veteran.

JOHN GLENN (on the Senate floor - January 26, 2004)

The question is, do u agree? this may seem biased but they are facts.

This seems a little bias and for the record Iraq didn't attack us either.

Yeah, I've read this before in another fashion a few times. Still agree with it for the most part, though I'm not exactly for the war myself, these are very good points and do need to be taken into consideration.

And this may seem biased, but they're facts. You can't argue the truth. Though the Commander in Cheif comment was an opinion.

This total includes only American casualties.  Total is much higher.

When some claim that President Bush shouldn't have started this war, tell them the following: FDR (DEMOCRAT) led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us; Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost ... an average of 112,500 per year.

Are you possibly claiming that since the war in Iraq isn't the WORST war, it is justified.  Terrible logic.

And history regards both of these wars as unjustified, so what is your point?

Johnson (DEMOCRAT) turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost ... an average of 5,800 per year.

See above 2 responses.

This one is a fact that makes me mad as hell.

Bin Laden is not in Iraq, nor does he have ties to Iraq.

Liberated?  Iraq is in a state of turmoil, still.  The war is far from over.

For the record, Democrats aren't the only ones complaining.

It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno (DEMOCRAT) to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation.

Iraq has not been "taken"  Bush dressing up in a military costume and saying it's over on an aircraft carrier doesnt make it so.

We've been looking for evidence for chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton (DEMOCRAT) to find the Rose law firm billing records.

Perhaps the chemical weapons are with all the WMD's that "justified" the war in the first place.

Is this supposed to be a legitimate argument or a joke?

I support the troops 100%.  That does not mean that I have to support the war, thanks.

You're dumb as shit. "Taking" Iraq doesn't mean that everything is over and it's all sunshine and rainbows over there. I'm not exactly an expert on this whole conflict at all, but I'm pretty sure that just by entering a country and taking out just a few of the many leaders and trying to establish some sort of liberty isn't going to take just a few years.

Second, Bush has no control over the oil prices. That's an economic issue in which almost everyone is apart of and is equally to blame. Take an economics class and you'll figure out just what's going on, for the most part. Oil is a global issue, it's a global market, and the high prices shouldn't be and cannot be blamed on a single country or person.

This is really biased to start.
I still dont think 9/11 justified all that the Government has done. I agreed with the attacks on the supposed terrorists, but this is way to far. Also, I dont remember the Democrats instating all these new laws that slowly erode our rights and to me thats the worst part of it all.

greatescape one line responses.

Every single respone you made had little to no actual substance behind it. You're arguing for the sake of arguing. Of course war is going to create controversy, I dare you to find one conflict that hasn't been protested. People will blame others for problems and blow things out of proportion to make it seem like such a bad thing. The fact is that the war is here, and there's nothing you can really to do stop it now, since pulling out completely would just be the worst thing possible at this point. You've got to understand that, while you may not like it, you have to at least finish what was started. Explain to me just how Iraq is in turmoil though? Sure, there are places there that would be horrible to walk in at night, but there are places like that in America, or anywhere else. Sure, there may not be much order there as of now, but things like that take time; something that people don't seem to understand anymore. There's no quick fix to large, global problems.

And the Osama comment seems to just be an attack on Clinton, but it's very much relevant to this argument.

I'd go into more, but...I just don't feel like it.
